Sheng Li, M.D., Ph.D., associate Sheng Li, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston McGovern Medical School, designed the breathing-controlled electrical stimulation (BreEStim) device to help manage spasticity and neuropathic pain. It uses voluntary breathing to enhance the effects of electrical stimulation on muscles and nerves.
